1.The Ministry of Health in Singapore, along with other government agencies, has strengthened measures for the management of electronic cigarettes within the country. This includes enhanced inspections at sea, land, and air checkpoints, intensified monitoring and crackdown on online sales and advertising. Additionally, stricter enforcement against the use and possession of electronic cigarettes has been implemented in public places.
2.Furthermore, the "Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act" in our country, which came into effect on March 22 of this year, categorizes electronic cigarettes as tobacco products, imposing a comprehensive ban. Heated tobacco products are classified as designated tobacco products subject to enhanced regulation. According to Article 15, Paragraphs 1(2) and 1(3) of the said law, importing tobacco products or their components, as well as designated tobacco products or their necessary components without approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare is prohibited. As of December 11 this year, no designated tobacco products have been approved, as indicated by information from the National Health Agency's website.
3.As the winter vacation approaches and with frequent travel during the holidays, please remind faculty, staff, and students to adhere to local regulations on electronic cigarettes when visiting Singapore. When returning to Taiwan, avoid bringing tobacco or designated tobacco products into the country to comply with the regulations of the Tobacco Hazards Prevention Act.
